Young adults (volunteers)  and youth workers from more than 18 European countries are coordinated in the European initiative 'OPEN UP! Connecting Youth to Society'. They will debate and share ideas on a “Solidary Europe for ALL” at the European Parliament on Tuesday 9.00 - 10.30, November 29th. Wout van Caimere (Coordinator of the Youth Intergroup) and others will participate in this debate.
The OPEN UP! initiative will  follow with a lunch debate about the idea of 'European Solidarity Corps' with e.g. Floor van Houdt, European Commission, Head of Unit Youth in Maison de la Francité, 13.00-15.00 Nov 29th. The OPEN initiative will close the day with a debate, world cafees, food and music in Molenbeek in Cultural Centre Vaartkapoen, where youth from Molenbeek exchange their vision, ideas and hopes about 'How to change your neighborhood’.
Promoted by IDEA NL (International Debate Education Association) as part of “OPEN UP! Connecting youth to society” program, this initiative brings the voices of young adults, volunteers and youth workers from different communities across Europe to an enthusiastic debate where they will have the opportunity to present their views and solutions for the current challenges facing Europe.
After an intense debate in their territories these groups of talented young adults developed KEY MESSAGES and are bringing those to 'Brussels'. And they are reinforcing the importance of developing key soft skills and promoting critical thinking when considering the future of new generations.
