Participants at the IDEA Debate Exchange in Sofia have started their final training day today. They are discussing ways to use debate for youth advocacy, and ways to make youth participate more with their projects, but also learn more about advanced training skills, budgeting and coaching. Some of the lessons have already been put into practice, with pr campaigns set up, and a new idea for a training of trainers on the books. After two workshop days, the participants had an excursion to Tsari Mali Grad and Hydro Park Windmills to relax, get to know each other better and see more of Bulgaria. They then continued with workshops and labs on the 30th, and enjoyed the insights from Eveline Sandlova from the Bulgarian center for not-for-profit law, discussed ways to promote debate in new areas and countries and learned more about curriculum development. This day was topped off with a concert by Romanian band Basska in Maimunarnika. The 1st of August will be the final day of the Exchange. On that day, they will put what they have learnt in practice in a debate tournament, as judges or organisers, and by giving training sessions or brainstorming about common projects and events. This project has been funded with support from the European Commission.
