IDEA implements a range of programs
to promote active citizenship globally, those programs
include:
Deliberation
Across the Curriculum (DAC)
DAC is directed at teachers of social
sciences and humanities. The project focuses on the
creation and implementation of courses for teachers
of respective subjects, training of teacher trainers,
development of curricula and educational resources.
The outcomes of DEP will include: a textbook on deliberative
education, lesson plans for respective subjects, on-line
and e-learning facilities for teachers and students.
DAC is a project implemented by the Netherlands based
International Debate Education Association [IDEA]
along with three of its members: the Estonian Debating
Society, the Informal Education Debate Center [Lithuania]
and "Za in Proti" [Slovenia]. The project
is supported by the European Commission Socrates Program,
Comenius 2.1.

East Youth Leadership Initiative (SEEYLI)
Seeyli is a unique partnership involving an international
staff and guests, from Albania, Bulgaria, Kosovo,
Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia. It is
designed to explore American culture,promote interaction
among students and teachers from Southeast European
countries and explore the challenges and opportunities
of building a climate for active civic participation.
SEEYLI is a project implemented by the US based International
Debate Education Association, the Open Society Institute’s
Network Programs and supported by the Bureau of Educational
and Cultural of the US Department of State.

Youth
Parliament Project (YPP)
YPP aims to promoting mutual understanding
and democracy though discussion and active citizenship.YPP
increases young people’s participation in the
decision-making process at the local and national
level by introducing and strengthening representative
forms of participation. YPP also aims to increase
participation of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds,
improve the knowledge and awareness of European issues
and help young people develop the skills which will
enable them to influence the decision making process.
Currently the YPP includes participants from Romania,
Bulgaria, Slovenia, Lithuania and the United Kingdom.
